Support Us!

Things have been busy since we started classes.   Classes have been fun and busy and the kids have been really engaged.  The children learned about Hokusai and woodblock printing and Michelangelo and frescos in art so far.  Spanish is fun (and loud!) and is reinforced during our core day. 

 

The weather has been our friend and we have lunched outside and played for an hour each day with the exception of one. 

 

We finally have a rock star logo (above) from the great Jeanne Wilson at Markbeech Marketing http://markbeechmarketing.com/  We are so lucky she decided to share her talent with us.  We love how the logo really represents what we are doing.  We think it really shows how home and school are coming together to form something new in Richmond and you can’t miss the love.  Thanks Jeanne!  Your are talented and brilliant! 

 

We have also launched a Indiegogo campaign.  Our goal is to be able to provide this experience to any family that is interested, regardless of their ability to pay.   We really could use your support on many levels.  One thing we need to do is improve our ranking so more people see our campaign.   To help with this, spread the word.  Ask people to stop by and visit.  You stop by and visit.  Also comment, comment, comment!  It helps improve our rankings.

 

Look for an open house.  We are so tickled and thrilled with our “school” and we look forward to sharing it with people.  Even if it is not something your are interested in, we would really love to show it off to you!

You Asked, We Listened....More Food!

Since everyone enjoyed the meal so much last time and asked us to do it again, who are we to refuse! 

Our chef has created an amazing menu full of local produce. 

Enjoy a wonderful meal August 10^th and allow our chef, Sue Cline to cook for you.  Pick up is between 5-6:30 Friday, 405 w. 32nd st Richmond, Va 23225.  If you need to arrange a different pickup time, contact us and we will try and accommodate!  Pay pal does not offer a lot of payment options, so if you need more than one meal, simply contact us at learningtreeacademyrva@gmail.com or vlmccauley@verizon.net and tell us what you want.  We will then send you an invoice.

Grilled Lime Garlic Shrimp with Roasted Corn, Tomato and Black Bean Salad

Celebrate summer with a delicious and healthy combination. Grilled shrimp marinated with lime and a hint of garlic served with a salad of roast organic corn, local organic tomatoes and Cuban style black beans. Served with flour tortilla.

For dessert enjoy Pastel de Tres Leches (three milk cake), a delightful vanilla flavored confection.

Vegetarian option:

Mediterranean Style Tabbouleh

An Arabian classic featuring fresh, local organic vegetables (tomato, onion, garlic and cucumber) and herbs (mint, parsley) over a base of Bulgur wheat. Served with a side of hummus and pita bread.
 

About the Chef

Sue Cline is the former owner and executive chef of The Aurora Grill, one of the nation's first farm-to-table restaurants. Her restaurant background includes an apprenticeship at the Marshall Field and Company restaurants, pastry chef at the original Intermezzo Cafe and sous chef at the Courier Cafe in Urbana IL. She now resides in the Forest Hill neighborhood, where she can be found growing her own vegetables and experimenting wildly with fermentation.

Salsa For a Cause

We are selling some amazing salsa to help raise money for our filing fees.  It is super fresh tasting, loaded with lime and cilantro with a  bit of a kick.  It is just $5for a 16 oz. container.

If you live in the forest hill/westoverhills/woodland height area we will deliver Sunday 6/03 between 12-4, please just note the address.  Otherwise we can arrange for pick the same day.
